Snorkeling & Free-diving for Kids

We designed this program for young adventurers, especially children aged 6–8, who want to explore the water before they are ready for scuba diving. It is a gentle first step into the underwater world around the Gili Islands.

The minimum age for our Snorkel Explorer program is 6 years old. This makes it a great option for younger children who are not yet old enough to begin scuba diving.

Our Explorer programs are available in half day and full day. The program is designed for children and their family. The whole family can join during all activities, or the children can follow the Explorers program, while the rest of the family enjoys their own scuba course.

The program starts with the Blue Oceans Explorer part. This is a dry part of the  course, where they will learn about the oceans, ecosystems and conservation.

Then we’ll continue with the Snorkeling Explorer, where we will teach them about snorkeling equipment, skills and where we will play games practicing those skills in our pool.

Our Snorkel Explorer half-day program costs Rp1,150,000. Families can contact us before booking if they would like help choosing the right Explorer format for their child.

Children need to be able to swim 12 meters without swim aids or buoyancy aids before joining the Snorkel Explorer program. The maximum depth is 3 meters, keeping the experience focused on child-friendly snorkeling, free-diving basics, and water confidence.

No, this program is for children who are too young for scuba diving. We use snorkeling, free-diving foundations, ocean learning, and pool-based skill practice to help children build confidence before they progress toward scuba options from age 8.

Blue Oceans Explorer is the dry learning part of the program, where we teach children about the ocean, ecosystems, and conservation. During Snorkeling Explorer, we introduce snorkeling equipment and skills, then use pool games to help children practice in a fun, child-friendly way.

Yes, our Explorer programs are designed for children and their families. Parents and siblings can join the activities, and adults can also take their own scuba courses while children enjoy the Explorer program.

After completing Blue Oceans Explorer and Snorkeling Explorer, children can continue with specialty experiences such as Ecology Explorer, Boat Explorer, Navigation Explorer, Night and Limited Visibility Explorer, Photo and Video Explorer, and Underwater Communication Explorer. The program also helps build a strong foundation for children who may want to try scuba diving from age 8.
