Scuba diving for kids on Gili Trawangan, a great aquatic experience for kids too young to do the normal diver certification programs. Gives kids aged 8 the chance to breathe and practice skills underwater in a safe and fun environment, all under the supervision of our experienced scuba diving instructors and dive masters.

Our Explorer programs are available in half day, full day or even multiple days. The programs are designed for children and their family. The whole family can join during all activities, or the children can follow the Explorer programs, while the rest of the family enjoy their own scuba courses.

Scuba Explorer program

The program starts with the Blue Oceans Explorer. This is a dry course, where they will learn about the oceans, ecosystems and conservation. Minimum age requirement for the Blue Ocean Explorer is 6 years old.

Then we’ll continue with the Snorkeling Explorer, where we will teach them about snorkeling equipment, skills and where we will play games practicing those skills in our pool. Minimum age requirement for the Snorkeling Explorer is 6 years old and all kids must be able to swim 12m without any bouyancy aides before participating in any in water activities.

After finishing the Blue Oceans Explorer and Snorkeling Explorer, we continue with the Scuba Explorer. This is the part most kids are waiting for but unfortunately has a minimum age requirement of 8 years old. Here they will learn about the scuba equipment, the basics of scuba diving and we will practice the most important and fun skills starting with simply breathing underwater in the pool.

After finishing the full Snorkeling Explorer program (1 to 2 snorkeling pool sessions) and/or Scuba Explorer program, which consists of 2 to 4 scuba pool sessions, kids can continue learning more and sign up for different experiences.

Some of the options are the Ecology Explorer, Boat Explorer, Navigation Explorer, Night and Limited Visibility Explorer, Photo and Video Explorer and Underwater Communication Explorer. Options that are only available after completing the Scuba Explorer program are Enriched Air Nitrox Explorer, Perfect Buoyancy Explorer and Stress and Rescue Explorer.
