The Manta Dive Divemaster program is among the most popular on the island because it is the perfect combination of professional learning as well just a plain old good time!
The SSI Divemaster program is the first step into the Professional world of diving. It is the pre-requisite to become an Open Water Instructor but it is also just a great way to perfect your skills as a scuba diver. Once you’ve completed the Divemaster course you’ll be qualified to guide certified divers and start to work in some of the most beautiful parts of the world.
The program consists of various forms of academic workshops, open water lessons, course assisting and more. There are always other Divemaster Trainees starting their program or in the process, so you'll never be alone on the journey. Doesn't matter if you've got 100 dives or just 5, every program is designed to around you and created to make you the best Divemaster possible.
At Manta Dive we have trained hundreds of students and have realized that the perfect Divemaster is one who has developed both inside as well as outside the water.
We strive to make sure our candidates are well versed in every part of how a dive center runs. You’ll learn not only about the basics of being a Divemaster but also become aware of environmental and conservation related factors of what we do in the water each and every day with our guests. And of course, we do it all while making sure there is lots of fun packed in-between.
The program can be done in various timelines and are all based on your needs and goals. The longer you stay, the more valuable real-world experience you'll achieve as a dive professional.
You’ll cover the topics of roles & characteristics of a Divemaster, supervising diving activities, assisting in course, dive theory, physics of diving, equipment, decompression theory, the business of diving, and more
You will learn to prepare emergency management plans. You’ll also learn to how to prepare maps of local dive sites to included useful details like depth, entry/exit and points of interest.
You’ll perfect all your confined skills that you will have learned back in the Open Water Course days. You’ll develop the basic skills and also rescue skills professional instructor level when it comes to demonstrations.
Towards the end, you’ll begin running student training sessions and guides under the direct supervision of an instructor.
There are two different ways to complete your Divemaster training. The first is an accelerated program that takes between 4-6 weeks and completes the necessary requirements for the Divemaster certification in a shorter time frame.
The second is more an "internship style" course which can go for 8+ weeks. This version gets you more experience with dives and training and is super useful for those who want to potentially go on to complete their Instructor Training Course.
Divemaster courses can be split over multiples visits to Gili T as well as sometimes people do not have enough time off to get it all done at once.
